Pony Express Stewardship Program:
Our congregation is once-again participating in the Pony Express Stewardship Program to engage our members to think intentionally about how they are stewarding their resources and how they might plan to give to our community. Be on the look-out for more details on that this September!
“Everyday we stand in the shade of trees we did not plant. We live in houses we did not build. We eat food we did not produce. We ponder ideas that are not original to us. So, too, we live in a body and with a mind and a spirit that we did not choose or create.”
-Donald W. Hinze, To Give and Give Again
A steward is someone who manages someone else's resources. As stewards of God's resources, we are given the responsibility to manage them faithfully. What are God's resources? In a nutshell: Everything, since everything comes from God! Creation and the environment, our talents and abilities, the people around us, our finances, our relationship with God and with each other, our time, and more.
At St Johns, how do we manage these gifts both as a congregation and as individuals? How do we encourage each other to manage these resources faithfully?
Our Stewardship Ministry Team is looking at these questions and developing ideas on how to address them. If you are interested in being a part of this team, contact Pastor Dorothy.
