Faith Life

There are many different ways to pray - and none of them are wrong!

Communication is essential in every relationship, even your relationship with God. Martha Grace Reese describes prayer in her book, Unbinding the Gospel: "Good prayer habits act like an incubator for our relationships with God. If we pray, we show up, God has a much better chance of getting through to us. Over time, we know ourselves better."

Here are some ideas to jump start your prayer life:

Write your prayers in a journal

Walk your neighborhood and pray for who and what you see

Pray for what you read about in the newspaper

Pray by reading the Psalms

Pray over your calendar for the coming week

Find a prayer buddy with whom to pray regularly

Pray without words - giving your emotions to God

Find a great daily prayer book to use daily

Pray using the spiritual practice of Lectio Divina
